You will serve as a Planner and Estimator (Aircraft Mechanic) in the in the Industrial Execution Department, Planning and Estimation Branch, Workload Scope determination Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will develop, implement, and coordinate aircraft mechanical workload plans, program schedules and configuration control of assigned aircraft reworked, repaired, modified, and converted. You will review established procedures and recommend improved methods to reduce aircraft rework costs and out of service time. You will prepare schedules and documentation designating work to be accomplished, production shops and/or organizational group tasked to perform the work and establish start and completion dates. You will provide direction, guidance, and assistance in resolving technical and production problems relative to rework/repair efforts. You will coordinate the delivery of aircraft, draft Naval Messages, update Aircraft Production Expectation Status (APES) report, delivery letters, write evaluation documents, and damaged aircraft condition reports. You will accomplish other duties as assigned.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment.
  • You will be required to comply with health, safety and environmental instructions and policies as well as all agency policies and procedures.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT, and includesthe following: (1) Leading the way through planning and organizing work assignments to accomplish assigned work such as installation, modification and final check out of repairs and maintenance conducted on assigned aircraft or components; (2) Testing and/or troubleshooting malfunctions for aircraft mechanical and electrical systems; (3) Ensuring availability of all tools, material, software, and equipment required for technical personnel to accomplish work assignments; 4) Monitoring work in progress to ensure supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, and time schedules are met; (5) Ensuring safety and housekeeping rules are followed by checking that protective equipment is worn and tools/equipment are being used properly; (6) Keeping other personnel informed on status and progress of work, and causes of work delays; and 7) Interpreting information from various sources such as blueprints, engineering specifications, and technical directives to accomplish work tasks.
