This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of Quality Operations, Product Quality Branch WCF. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting pickups and verifying the accuracy of received security samples from various production or support sections.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As Quality Assurance Specialist, you will:
Perform BEN move material transactions, accurate accountability of security items logging in samples, assign sample unique identification and labeling samples, and perform physical control of semi and finished product, inks, paper and raw materials.
Support the operation of banknote processing equipment (BPS) operation maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
Analyze, interpret, and evaluate data and statistical information.
Prepare reports of findings and trends and recommended actions.
Operate a full range of laboratory equipment which includes physical and optical test equipment such as density meter, crumple tester, abrasion tester.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes experience monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services in a quality assurance or production environment.
Examples may include:
Participating in product testing activities; OR
Identifying production processing issues; OR
Participating in quality audits; OR
Gathering data and statistical information related to quality; OR
Performing visual inspections to identify non-conformance with product specifications or company standards.
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related: Major study - quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
