These career/career-conditional permanent full-time positions are located at Shenandoah National Park, in the Administration Division.

Duties
The primary purpose of these positions is to provide administrative support to the various divisions (Administration, Interpretation & Education, Ranger Activities, Facilities Management, Natural & Cultural Resources) and their staff at Shenandoah National Park. Performs practical and clerical aspects of office administration including human resources, budget, acquisition and property management, and other administrative support services. Duties may include:
Apply customer service practices working with internal and external customers.
Perform a variety of general administrative tasks such as filing, preparing correspondence, and supporting meetings.
Supports timesheet preparation and review and enters payroll; initiates human resource/personnel actions using an automated system.
Serve as purchasing agent for Division, responsible for procurement and budget reconciliation of purchases.
Use a variety of office automation software office equipment.
These positions may be filled at either the GS-06 level or the GS-07 level. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the GS-07 full performance level. Promotion to the full performance level is neither guaranteed nor implied and will be based solely on your ability to satisfactorily perform the work of the position, existing work at the higher grade level, and recommendation by the position's supervisor.
Time-In-Grade: Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service); with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement who have had a break in service of less than one year, as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointments. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: The work is mostly sedentary. The work is generally performed in an office setting.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
POSITION LOCATION: Shenandoah National Park preserves and protects more than 300 square miles of nationally significant natural and cultural resources, scenic beauty, and congressionally designated wilderness within Virginia's northern Blue Ridge Mountains; and provides a broad range of opportunities for public enjoyment, recreation, inspiration, and stewardship. Within just 90 miles of Washington D.C. the Park provides visitors the ability to explore mountain peaks, hidden hollows, cascading streams, accessible wilderness, and stunning natural beauty. Approximately 40% of the Park is designated wilderness with over 500 miles of hiking trails and the iconic Skyline Drive, SHEN was established as an eastern Park that provided a "western Park experience". Due to the Park's easy accessibility to D.C and other highly populated areas along the east coast, visitation exceeds 1.4 million visitors annually which results in significant resource protection and visitor management issues and incidents.

Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-04/22/2024.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.

SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs office automation work, and the ability to type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors is required. To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 level in Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience includes activities such as: accurate data entry into an automated financial system; making travel arrangements and preparing travel vouchers; verifying time and leave balances through an automated timecard system; organizing files; and using and maintaining electronic data management systems; etc. You must include hours per week worked.
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 level in Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience includes providing a wide variety of detailed, complex administrative support services to enable efficient operation of a business or program office such as creating and tracking purchase requests, personnel actions, travel vouchers; administering payroll and workers compensation; preparing human resource employment paperwork and orienting new employee; and providing organizational support to park divisions; etc. You must include hours per week worked.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
