Serves as an Environmental Protection Assistant for the Engineering Department, Engineering Management Division, United States Section, International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC). The position directly supports the Clean Rivers Program (CRP) for the Rio Grande Basin and USIBWC surface water quality.

Duties

Supports water quality management programs for watersheds along the United States-Mexico border. Reviews established hydrologic and environmental records to determine existing water quantity levels for the surface watercourses in the basin. Participates in the identification of pollutants (air, soil, water, and noise) Participates in the development of, and updates environmental management inventories. Provides data base management services. Works with staff to draft environmental reports such as water quality studies and technical memorandums. Attend public and special interest group meetings.

Requirements

Qualifications

Qualifications must be met by 04/19/2024 Minimum Qualification Requirement - You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, which provided you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience include: knowledge of environmental management concepts, theories, methods and techniques; collection and basic analysis of data and assisting in the development of technical reports; reviewing environmental impact documents to identify potential pollutants; maintaining a watershed inventory of surface water quality monitoring data; reviewing authorized publications to determine the appropriate information for inclusion in environmental inventories; and compiling technical reports summarizing the results of water quality monitoring.
