THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a ALLIED TRADES SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1525000 and is part of the HI CSMS 1, National Guard.
LOCATION: Combined Support Maintenance Shop No. 1, Hawaii Army National Guard, Kapolei, Hawaii
Duties
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to Responsible for supervising workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing the work of the function. Plans work operations of great scope, complexity, and administrative authority. Determines the sequence, priority, and time for the performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits. The constructed occupation and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Allied Trades, WG-3401-10.
Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to week or month-to-month basis.
Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
Plans and establishes overall leave schedules. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for accomplishment.
Performs the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed.
Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, and mobilization and command support exercises.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

- Must be in the grade ofO-1 to O-3 or W-1 to W-3.
Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate can organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have at least 36 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an environment which is well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Some work may be performed under field conditions. Subject to normal hazards of the trade skills to include the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, shocks, and broken bones, and serious burns.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise handles items weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally handles items greater than 40 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. Works in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping are required. Occasionally climbs and works in high places.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY:
Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709.
NOTES TO CANDIDATES:
a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.
b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard.
c. In addition to your application, documents of last performance appraisal, past civilian performance, letter of recommendations, and or military performance may be submitted.
d. Candidates may be screened and evaluated on military attributes directly related to the compatible military position required to be assigned into, such as, but not limited to, military bearing, leadership, or ability to work with others (teamwork) in a military environment.
