This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, DOL, Personnel Support Department, MWR Division, Base Alameda, Alameda, CA.

Duties

This position serves as the Morale, Well-Being and Recreation (MWR) Director and is responsible for the administration, planning, supervision and direction of the MWR Division at U.S. Coast Guard Base Alameda, CA.  The incumbent of this position serves as the unit technical expert in MWR programs and management of those programs.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

Qualifications for GS-12:Experience:  At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level is required.  Such experience must have demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation.  Examples include:  Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs; Planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels; Instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management; Serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations.Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
