This position is part of the Defense Media Activity, Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for providing news, information, and entertainment to U.S. forces worldwide in order to promote and sustain unit and individual readiness, quality of life, and moral.
Duties
This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated June 23,2023.
As a Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Ensures IT Security for a Department of Defense training institution.
Make decisions on implementation and operations of cyber tools.
Have expert cybersecurity knowledge in network or application design, operating systems, endpoint protection, mobile devices, and foundational cybersecurity technical controls.
Maintains knowledge of all aspects of cybersecurity and compliance, including Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST 800-53 and JFHQ-DODIN 8600-22 requirements and best practices.
Provides leadership and mentoring to less-experienced team members.
Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems from intentional or inadvertent access.
Utilizes knowledge in ESS/HBSS (McAfee ePO), ACAS (Tenable Security Center, Nessus, Nessus Manager, and Nessus Network Monitor), Enterprise Logging, and SIEM.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Failure to obtain, or retain, a Secret security clearance may result in termination of employment.
- Must sign a Privileged Access Statement.
- Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel.
- Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directives 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test screening, and periodic testing thereafter.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in any IT field is preferred.
- This position requires the incumbent to report to work or remain on the job in the event of a natural disaster or terrorist attack until relieved by the proper authority.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS 12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Performing Information Assurance (IA) duties that ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems, networks, and data.
Performing security reviews of application designs, software development, source code and deployments.
Conduct systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews; and ensuring systems, tools, and applications are in compliant with Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT), Cybersecurity and the National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
