About the Position: Serves as Senior Maintenance Mechanic with responsibility for overseeing the work of subordinate full-time workers. Responsibilities include the planning, assigning, leading by active participation, and reviewing a wide variety of maintenance, repair, and operational tasks at lake projects involving operation and maintenance of flood control structures, recreational sites, or other facilities.

Duties

Maintain electrical components, panels, and circuitry for a major public works flood control structure, associated office buildings and public use areas. Diagnosis problems of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and plumbing equipment/systems. Conduct inspection of flood control operating facilities. Inspect recreational facilities under Corps operational control. Repair of major control tower operating components. Perform maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems associated with assigned facilities equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • Must maintain both a boat and motor vehicle license. May be required to maintain a commercial driver's license (CDL). May be requested to be certified to operate water and wastewater systems.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical. Incumbent is required to frequently lift and carry parts and items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in extremes of weather or inside shop and other buildings. Work involves walking and climbing of steps, slopes, and uneven surfaces. There is danger of injury such as cuts, burns, electrical shock and bruises while use of power tools and welding equipment, strains from lifting or work in awkward positions, and danger of drowning while working in proximity of the water.
