The position serves as the Custodial Worker Supervisor and shares the responsibility with the other supervisors for assigning, directing, reviewing the work of work leaders, laborers, and custodial workers and evaluating their work performance; planning, scheduling, and coordinating work operations; and resolving problems related to the work performed by Building Services’ staff, responsible for cleaning and maintaining all National Gallery of Art areas.

Element 73      Ability to Lead or Supervise Element 25-A   Work Practices Element 75-B    Ability to Interpret Instructions & Specifications Element 81       Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Element 86       Dexterity and Safety Work is performed throughout the NGA Campus.  Work is usually performed indoors.  Areas include but are not limited to, offices, art galleries, public spaces, locker rooms, break rooms, restrooms, and staff spaces.  On occasion employee may be exposed to noisy, drafty, dusty, and dirty areas.  In addition, they may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and related chemical vapors.   Work is occasionally performed outside in all kinds of weather, (heat, cold, sun, wind, rain, and snow), and environmental pollutants (carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, dust, pollen, soil, and other airborne particulate matter) may exist at times in varying levels of potential hazard.  "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration under merit promotion procedures.
