The primary purpose of this position is to provide information and advice to military and civilian personnel regarding their entitlements for shipment and storage of personal property (e.g., household goods, unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, and special items such as mobile homes). Movement of personal property can either be domestic or international.
Duties
Counsels all authorized military and civilian employees of their entitlements for shipment and storage of personal property and privately owned vehicles, including specialized items, to domestic and overseas locations.
Prepares and processes applications for transportation or storage of a wide range of personal property, and privately owned vehicles, including special items, of authorized civilian and military members.
Plans and processes Personally Procured Moves (PPM) incentive moves for payment through the local Finance office.
Performs other clerical and administrative tasks in support of the transportation work.

- Capable of operating basic computer and office equipment, peripherals, and software packages.
- Requires a transportation background with general knowledge of various directives pertaining to Personal Property and Privately Owned Vehicle -CONT-
- CONT-shipment and storage and a working knowledge of the Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System
- Possesses an understanding of all aspects of travel and transportation entitlements and shipping/storage information
- Uses sound judgement in meeting and dealing with various on-base and off-base personnel.
- Maintains a valid state driver's license and is capable of operating camera equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Subject to an irregular tour of duty to meet mission needs.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions as Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for GS 2102 Transportation Clerk and Assistant Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes transportation rules, procedures, or operations governing entitlements and documentation requirements for domestic or foreign shipments including specialized shipments such as mobile homes, large boats, and house trailers; Knowledge of automated transportation systems to reconcile errors that require an understanding of nonstandard transportation procedures or provide subject-matter assistance in the development of automated transportation procedures for clerical operations.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the full range of transportation operations as related to the shipment of personal property.
Knowledge of the instructions, regulations, directives, local operating procedures, governing entitlements, and shipment of personal property.
Ability to analyze, con-elate, and evaluate transportation data.
Ability to respond to a range of questions from movement agencies, activity personnel, customers, commercial carries, and/or others regarding the shipment and storage of household goods.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
