About the Position: This position is in the Naval Branch Medical Clinic,Yuma, AZ. Yuma is a city in southwest Arizona. Overlooking the Colorado River, Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park is home to the preserved cells and guard tower of a Wild West-era prison. Nearby, Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park was a 19th-century military warehouse and telegraph station. A 1907 steam locomotive on Pivot Point Plaza monuments the Southern Pacific Railroad, which once ran through the city.

Duties

Process variety of complex medication orders using computerized order entry and/ or limited paper script. Perform substantial bulk compounding, including complex products. Perform technical functions with computer-based systems and software. Operate work area in an efficient and effective manner. Clarify questionable orders with ordering medical provider, answer routine questions concerning use, dosage, administration, drug interactions and side effects. Assist Pharmacist in the drug utilization, quality assurance, and improvement activities.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 45# lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes filling prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmaceutical. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
