The position is located in the Office of Quality and Patient Safety at the Lt. Col. Luke Weathers Jr. VAMC. In this capacity, the employee participates actively in the administration portion of Infection Prevention under the Department of Quality and Patient Safety. The position provides administrative coverage within Quality and Patient Safety when needed. This position reports to the Deputy Chief of Quality and Patient Safety.
Duties
Responsibilities will be to support the functions associated with the Medical Center's Infection Prevention programs. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Assist with staff educational needs and training the Infection Prevention nurses provide.
Assists in managing the Infection Control Website, databases, and meeting minutes.
Assembles PowerPoint presentations and agendas for the Infection Control Committee meetings and keeps the committee members informed of any changes.
Records Infection Prevention minutes and puts together PowerPoint and agendas every other month.
Identifies existing or potential problem areas and interacts directly with the Infectious Disease Physician and Infection Prevention Team to confirm that the minutes are reconciled, and any open action item is closed.
Enters data associated with the various performance measure reports related to Infection Prevention, institutional disclosures, and OIG document requests.
Works closely with the Utilization Manager Supervisor, putting together PowerPoints and communicating with the UM committee to ensure the data is timely for the meeting.
Works and serves on the Control Substance team by conducting narcotic inspections throughout the medical facility, keeping the Control Substance SharePoint up-to-date, and ensuring that the Controlled Substance is signed timely by appropriate staff.
Assist with Performance Measures, V-Tel dial-ins or meeting set ups as needed.
Performs clerical and administrative duties for Quality and Patient Safety, including primary timekeeper, Talent Management System (TMS), and Personal Identification Verification (PIV) Sponsor duties.
Manages the Chief and Deputy of Quality and Patient Safety and the Q&PS Conference room Outlook appointment calendars and apprises the Chief of Quality and Patient Safety.
Assist in coordinating reports, projects, meetings, management of web pages, and compiling executive-level reports related to the programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Skill in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Access, as applicable to the Quality and Patient Safety Department, Ability to plan, organize, and carry out complex duties involving multiple programs within time constraints without direct supervision, Skilled in effective communication, both verbal and written, with clinical and administrative staff, and Knowledge of SharePoint and other software required to complete work effectively and be able to adapt database programs to the work situation. The nature of the position requires high accuracy and meticulous attention to detail-excellent transcribing, editing, and composing skills for recording committee meeting minutes and Service correspondence.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary; however, some light physical exertions such as walking and standing during presentations, briefings, speeches, health fair activities. The work is typically performed in an office setting with adequate lighted and climate controlled office.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
