The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principle office assistant, performing various secretarial/administrative duties in support of the 633d Air Base Wing (ABW) Commander.
Duties
Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence, reports, and other materials submitted for the Commander/Vice Commander signature or coordination. Independently prepares, coordinates, and compiles taskings and suspense's related to mission requirements across the 633 ABW, its subordinate units and the joint base environment.
Serves as the organizational point of contact and liaison for all wing and outside agency visitors. On the behalf of the Wing Commander and Vice Wing Commander manages and oversees all internal and external communications to facilitate meetings and conferences with wing leadership, Joint Base mission partners including IMCOM, TRADOC, and SCAE staffs, outside agencies and local community leaders across the joint base.
Maintains Wing Headquarters' calendars, making appointments and coordinating meeting arrangements, schedules meeting and/or conferences including those involving staff from outside the immediate office based on a personal knowledge of their schedules and current issues. Wing focal point for all action involving the Joint Base calendar synchronization for all wing and wing equivalent Army organizations across the joint base environment.
Receives telephone calls, greets visitors and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits, screening those that can be handled without Wing Commander/Vice Commander's help. Places both local and long distance calls for the Wing Commander/Vice Commander or staff personnel.
Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring personal and executive correspondence, reports, and other documents from information obtained from the staff, files, and other sources. Routinely composes nontechnical correspondence, such as office procedures, requests for information concerning the organization's programs, letters of acknowledgement, and letters of appreciation, commendation, or notification. Performs other clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization. Serves as primary Organizational Defense Travel Administrator for the wing front office. Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets. Independently plans and performs complex office automation duties requiring different approaches and methods from one assignment to another.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to diverse functional issues concerning the effectiveness and efficiency of joint base support operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel. Applying correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and formatting to prepare and edit written correspondence and reports; operating various office automation software programs. Skill in dealing tactfully and pleasantly with a wide range of personnel in complex situations.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-08 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of extensive rules, procedures, or operations applied to secretarial and clerical assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, location and assembling information for various inquiries/reports/briefings, maintaining files/records, and making and preparing travel arrangements.
2. Knowledge of the organizational structure and command relationships of the 633 ABW, the wing staff agencies, other subordinate wing units, and numerous joint base mission partners. Knowledge of office functions and commitments of supervisor and staff to prepare and review correspondence, to screen telephone calls and visitors, to maintain supervisor's calendar, and to perform other substantive or administrative work of the organization.
3. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence, reports and briefings.
4. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, techniques to support office operations and provide a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, graphs, and briefings.
5. Skill in dealing tactfully and pleasantly with a wide range of personnel in complex situations. Ability to be creative and innovative and to quickly adapt to frequently changing requirements within demanding time constraints. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, negotiate sometimes complex issues, and maintain strong, professional working relationships.
6. Skill and ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations across multiple agencies/units to meet wing requirements and objectives within available resources and meet suspense's.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
