The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating activities necessary to the overall
management of the weapon safety program at the Munitions Directorate
Duties
Communicates and responds to HQ AFMC and AFRL on all weapons safety aspects.
Advises and collaborates daily with supervisors, project managers, engineers, scientists, contractors, and emergency response personnel to determine weapons safety requirements for all activities.
Inspects and evaluates workplaces and processes to include explosive ranges and research laboratories for compliance with established explosives policies and standards.
Develops and provides weapon safety training/instruction to supervisors, employees, and Additional Duty Weapon Safety Representatives (ADWSRs) on a wide range of weapon safety topics such as risk assessments, transportation, handling and proper storage of explosive materials and emergency procedures.
Reviews all explosive written procedures that involve use of energetic materials.
Plans and carries out formal weapon safety mishap investigations.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions General Schedule Positions.
Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year, or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, specialized experience at the next lower broadband / grade level DO-01/GS-11, level or equivalent in other pay systems and is described in detail in my resume. Specialized experience is experience managing and/or advising on the risk of handling ammunition and explosives, and ensuring compliance with explosives safety policy and regulations; planning, coordinating, and/or evaluating a weapons and explosives safety program; developing and/or providing weapon safety training to personnel; and conducting safety risk assessments to minimize or eliminate potential safety hazards and threats.
