Position is located in a Youth Regional Treatment Center (YRTC). The YRTC provides residential substance abuse and alcohol treatment to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native youth and will help California tribal youth find healthy directions in life. In addition to providing treatment services, the YRTC works with tribal and urban Indian communities to help provide a continuum of care, including preventive and aftercare services.

Duties

Manages referrals for youth substance use disorder treatment reimbursable by the California Area of the Indian Health Service. Responsible for ensuring that all intake materials and required admission records are complete and received prior to admission. Act as the liaison between the referring agency and the treatment center to facilitate the intake, treatment, and aftercare coordination. Conducts substance abuse and clinical assessments on youth, to include a detailed inventory of the type, amount, frequency, and consequences of the client's substance use. Provides thorough assessment, triaging, and consultation services to families who present for care with substance use risk factors and/or mental health disorders. Develops and updates provider referral resource lists and contacts. Maintain an up-to-date waiting list as needed. Makes aftercare/discharge arrangements and coordinates the distribution of all authorized records to be released. Provides follow-up on all residents discharged from the treatment center. Coordinates community outreach events and presentations to provide awareness and encourage referrals for services by agency stakeholders.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. The Hiring Manager/Selecting Official may elect to utilize an available flexibility wherein applicants who are currently enrolled and expected to complete the required education and obtain the required licensure/certification/registration with 9 month(s) of applying, may be deemed tentatively qualified. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. This experience may be obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provide individual and family therapy to patients; Provide diagnosis, treatments, consultations and referral services to psychiatric patients; Develop treatment plans, referrals, and appropriate interventions for various crisis situations; Adhere to hospital and department safety regulations. -OR- Three (3) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. -OR- A combination of Graduate Education and Professional Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. GS-11 Selective Factor: The position at the full performance level (GS-11) requires a knowledge that is acquired by having a current, unrestricted license U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW) or a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
