About the position: This position will be assigned to the Liberty Pools on Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, New Mexico. This is a not to exceed position and will cease when the pool seasons ends.
Duties
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or heath conditions. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specific standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation fo the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, pool decks, sunbathing areas, etc.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have an approved and currently nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and sills, as well as basic first aid training and CPR (both child and adult) prior to Memorial Day Weekend. This is a designated drug testing position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
