About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and located at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, NY. As Secretary (Office Automation) you will be providing executive level clerical and administrative support primarily to the Commander, Deputy Commander, and Chief of Staff.
Duties
Establish internal control procedures pertaining to correspondence, reports, messages, records management, forms, and other procedural applications as necessary.
Provide overall guidance, control, direction and policy formulation for the management of the North Atlantic Division office and six subordinate district level organizations.
Input travel authorizations/vouchers into automated financial management software systems.
Consolidate information into various reports.
Perform a variety of record keeping, typing, and reporting in support of office personnel.
Review all correspondence for the division for clarity, completeness of reply, and grammatical or procedural correctness.
Advise other secretaries and staff on administrative and procedural requirements.
Provide executive level clerical and administrative support primarily to the Division Commander, Deputy Commander, and Chief of Staff.
Screen calls and visitors answering most questions.
Requirements

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in Federal service which includes: 1) providing guidance and advice in various administrative areas; 2) Utilizing an automated travel management system to prepare travel arrangements; 3) Coordinating meetings and/or conferences with responsibility for making logistical arrangements, preparing relevant materials, or notifying attendees; AND 4) Maintaining a calendar to include scheduling appointments, meetings, etc.
Typing Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
