You will serve as a Boiler Plant Operator Supervisor in the Public Works Department, Washington Navy Yard, of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Washington.

Duties

You will analyze long range work schedules to determine manpower, skills and qualifications needed, tooling and material requirements, and production methods to be used. You will complete scheduled maintenance work within established timeframes and guidelines. You will evaluate activities of maintenance facilities to recommend changes to improve cost effectiveness. You will implement changes to work and work plans to reduce or control costs.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: (1) Reviewing and analyzing production costs and personnel utilization and making recommendations to reduce cost or increase efficiency; (2) Demonstrated familiarity with boiler and cooling water chemistry and with related environmental requirements and (3) Demonstrated familiarity with heating plant and/or central chiller operations as well as the auxiliary equipment.
