This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Colorado River Agency in Poston, Arizona.
OPEN UNTIL FILLED. 1st certificate will be issued after April 17, 2024. Then next subsequent cut-off date will be 10 working days thereafter as needed. Your application will expire in 3 months and you will need to reapply to keep your application active.
Duties
Conduct routine maintenance and non-routine rehabilitation of project canals, lateral, structures, pipelines and drains.
Make decisions on work site with regard to completion of assigned work to determine priorities and the most effective steps of maintenance to equipment.
Maintain daily report of completed work; maintain records of labor use, equipment and materials.
Perform construction equipment operations such as; clearing brush; constructing canal structures, laterals and ditches; cleaning, shaping and rebuilding canals.
Perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment utilizing hand powered tools, mechanical tools, greasing devices, and other repair equipment.

- Drug Testing. This position is subject to both pre-employment and random drug testing as a condition of employment. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test is received.
- Recruitment incentive may be authorized at Managements discretion, a Service Agreement will be required for approved incentives.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C, Qualification Standard Handbook) will be used in determining applicants' qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through the experience shown in your written resume and your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision.
Specialized Experience WG-10: Work that included independent operation of a variety of heavy construction and maintenance of equipment, grader, tractor, both wheeled and tracked, front end loaders, forklift trucks; combination trailers up to 50 ton capacity, equipment that will be used in road construction and/or maintenance and repair. Care of equipment used and routine maintenance of repairs and service of equipment. Operate equipment in various types of terrain, must be able to install and remove all manufacturers attachments with tools recommended.
