Duties

Serving as a Printing Services Assistant GS-1603-9 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located within the Publishing Services Branch (PUB), Student Services Division (SSD) under the Mission Readiness Support Directorate (MRSD), within the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) and located in Glynco, Georgia. Typical assignments include: Providing digital duplicating, bindery and digital disc duplication production services in the Digital Print Center using the most efficient, economical, timely and quality conscious means. Using digital files provided by the client to set up, file and track jobs for processing via a digital image processing system. Performing quality checks and determines which production unit to route the job to for production. Following all established laws, department, agency, directorate and division directives and policies/procedures applicable to workload, mission and safety and security procedures. Keeping management apprised of workload/project status, potential problems, and provides suggestions for corrective action that may impact work completion to prevent mission failure. Responding to clients inquires, maintaining inventory of supplies and materials, and coordinating printing production scheduled for all in-plant work orders. Maintaining a complex job input and inventory database for the Digital Print Center and providing statistical data in support of the overall printing management operations. Interacting with clients to ensure their requirements are clearly stated and asking questions to confirm the information provided for production is accurate.

  • Bargaining Unit: This is a bargaining unit covered position, represented under the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU).

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Weekends and federal holidays may be required.

Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the federal service meeting with clients to plan and produce a desired product/project, providing bindery and digital disc duplication services, executing print requests using the most efficient, economical, timely and quality- conscious means, and determining the needs of the customer based on previous production experiences. All requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
