About the Position: This position is located in Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Duties

Identify customer shortages and performs research prior to confirming in the automated inventory system. Use an automated system to update locations and print placards as needed when new items arrive into the storage facility or when required to relocate. Respond to all urgent customer actions IAW established policies and procedures. Assemble stock for shipment and ensures outgoing item(s) are properly marked, tagged or labeled and determines the materials, containers and devices needed to prepare the item for shipment. Operate a motor vehicle to transport and deliver medical supplies and equipment to external clinics. Perform purity testing in accordance with regulatory guidelines and certifies that shipments meet acceptance levels.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/ Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Materials Handler Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) duties receiving, storing, and issuing of medical and non-medical supplies, daily and weekly exchanging of medical supply carts and inventorying of all carts, receiving incoming shipments from a variety of sources, storing of materials within assigned storage areas according to established policies and procedures, operating a motor vehicle weighing up to and including 7000 pounds gross vehicle weight and operating a forklift capable of lifting 2000 to 6000 pounds - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Must be able to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to 45 pounds and/or maneuvers, pushes, or slides items for proper positioning. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment, or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned or as directed by the supervisor. Work may require wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, rubber aprons. Type of protection will be determined by the work environment. Clothing and equipment include, but are not limited to the following: eye, respiratory and foot protection, protective clothing (gloves, apron, coveralls, scrubs, etc.) Other types may be required as deemed necessary by authorized management officials. Employee will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and an audio metric test will be conducted, as necessary, when working near or around noise hazardous areas, machinery or equipment. Identification badges are required to ensure that staff is authorized access to assigned areas. Identifies and reports safety, environmental, and facility issues to their supervisor for processing. In addition, may also be exposed to dust, dirt, grease and solvents, and to high noise levels in mechanized work areas. When working with hazardous materials, may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins or chemical fumes. Also at risk for the possibility of exposure due to infectious diseases from patient areas.
