The purpose of this position is to serve as a production supervisor to direct aircraft, equipment, and munitions maintenance activities in the accomplishment of unit flying schedules and maintenance plans; assign priorities to aircraft, equipment, and munitions production work, to direct action to resolve resource shortages, and train personnel in the duties set herein.
Duties
- Plans use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to ensure aircraft, aircraft components, support equipment, and munitions are maintained in world class condition.
- Performs work direction responsibilities. Performs administrative functions.

- Serves as technical advisor to flight chief/maintenance operations officer in the resolution of production problems. Executes specific disaster control duties including provisions of Emergency War Orders and contingency plans.

- Performs other related duties as assigned. May be required to work uncommon tour of duty, overtime and perform standby duties. May be subject to on call or recall due to contingencies or emergencies.
- Required to fly in military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty (TDY) assignments.
- Required to work at various locations within the group and base.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- Safeguards classified or sensitive budget and computer systems related information and/or files.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain civilian and military driver's license.
- Must be capable of transporting munitions for upload and download of C-17 A aircraft countermeasure flares.
- Must maintain ability to open and close electrically controlled hangar doors.
- This is a Mission Essential position performing a Mission Critical Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800 - Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the Ability To Do the Work of an Aircraft Overhaul Supervisor without More than Normal Supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Extensive knowledge of aircraft, equipment, and munitions maintenance management practices, procedures, and organizational and mission requirements; capabilities and limitations. Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in safety standards, regulations, and technical orders. Extensive knowledge of Air Force TO Form documentation requirements.
Knowledge and practical application of MIS (e.g. CAMS, GO-81) programs and paperless inspection process. Comprehensive knowledge of assigned weapon systems including airframes, aircraft systems, and the interrelationships among systems and aircraft power plants, needed to make various operational checks and verify established performance limits. Knowledge of aircraft flying hour and maintenance planning cycles, documentation, and communication necessary to execute plans.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, and technical orders, and to evaluate compliance, adequacy of repair actions, and proper installation of parts and modifications. Ability to manage personnel and equipment resources to effect flying and maintenance programs. Ability to assign work priorities to accomplish scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
Ability to execute disaster control and emergency war order/contingency plans. Skill in directing aircraft generation/evacuation processes. Skill in determining aircraft condition and advising supervision of workload changes.
Knowledge of and ability to implement sound personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and equal employment opportunity. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skill in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment.
Skill in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. Knowledge of Home Station Check inspection procedures and priorities.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 6 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 2 hour per week. Hours of kneeling are I hour per week. Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle may be required. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Vision in both eyes is required and normal depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (without aid).
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Exposed to hazards of working with explosives that may result in physical injury. Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive noise, intermittent. Constant noise. Electrical energy. Slippery or uneven walking surface. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working around moving objects or vehicles. Working closely with others.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
