About the position: This position will be assigned to the Arts and Crafts (Wood Shop) on Luke AFB, AZ.
This position is Regular Part-Time, guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours per work week but can work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. As a regular employee, you are eligible for benefits. May include nights, weekends and holidays.
Requires lifting items weighing 45 pounds and frequent standing, stooping, bending, and arm movement.
Duties
Responsible for the daily operations of the Wood Hobby Shop to ensure economic and efficient operations. Operates and maintains a woodworking shop for patron use. Maintains stock wood, wood products, and other woodworking shop supplies to complete a variety of woodworking projects. Prepares shop budget. Prepares request for supplies and equipment required for sop operations and equipment required for shop operations. Registers patrons, collects appropriate fees, and issues materials, tools, and equipment. Develops curriculum for skills development woodworking classes. Demonstrates proper techniques and methods used in building, refinishing and repairing wood projects. Assists patrons in completing layouts and provides general guidelines involved in estimating material, cost and waste minimizing techniques, selection or substitution of materials. Follow safety practices in operating machines and using tools and equipment. Assist other Wood Crafters in making and repairing squadron/division property and equipment, when necessary, ensures working area is clean. Adheres to established safety and fire regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Ability to supervise others and a well-developed administrative skill. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of wood crafting methods and techniques. Knowledge of properties and characteristics of a wide variety of hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, veneers, wood substitutes, and gluing parts. Knowledge of set up, operating and maintaining power tools and machines. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures; ability to prepare operating budget and stock accountability to maintain stock level.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position doe not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
