THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT), Position Description Number D0416000 and is part of the CO AASF, National Guard.
The purpose of this position is to perform sheet metal maintenance on aircraft and components.
Duties
Inspects and troubleshoots aircraft structures such as fuselage, tail, wings, cowlings and stabilizers. Repairs cracks in aircraft skin. Fabricates and fits patches to damaged areas as necessary to retain or restore original strength. Sets up, operates and maintains power shears, metal brakes, rolls, dimpling machines, drills, saws, heat-treating furnaces, hardness testers, arc and oxyacetalene welders and other metal working equipment and tools of the trade. May paint, strip or stencil aircraft and/or components. Participates in the safety program for the sheet metal function. May assist in other functions within the Component Repair Shop in the accomplishment of mission requirements. May assist authorized firefighters in the performance of fire/ crash/rescue duties as required. Performs other duties assigned.
Requirements
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Membership in the Colorado Army National Guard or eligible to transfer into the COARNG.
- Must hold the grade of E-3 thru E-7.
- Compatible Military Assignment: 15G MOS.
- Submit all required documentation.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

Compatible Military Assignments: 15G MOS

Must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience in planning repairs, fabricating sheet metal components, and, applying prescribed repairs based on aircraft technical manuals, blueprints or other engineering documents.
2. Experience operating powered and unpowered shop tools.
3. Experience in using metals including aluminum alloys, stainless steel, titanium, magnesium, as well as composite material.
4. Experience demonstrating the application of relevant mathematical calculations and complex measuring instruments.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.
