This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Navajo Region in Crownpoint, New Mexico.
The incumbent supports the Road Maintenance Program of the Navajo Region, Division of Transportation, Maintenance Branch at various Agencies by providing equipment operations and general labor.
NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.
Duties
Operates machinery to repair and restoration of earth roads, graveled roads, paved roads and bridges.
Operates an assortment of power and pneumatic tools including diesel-powered air compressor, and air-powered tools.
Performs routine preventative maintenance and emergency service on equipment.
Attend meetings and training as required.
Strictly adheres to the Agency Safety Program.
Keep field records on equipment maintenance and operation.
Performs a variety of general labor duties in the preservation, repair and restoration of earth roads, graveled roads, paved roads and bridges.

Physical Demands: Applicants must demonstrate that they are fully capable of performing strenuous work. Position requires average or above average strength, ability, and muscular endurance to perform assigned duties. Frequently carries, lifts, and supports items weighing up to 100 pounds and occasionally objects weighing approximately 150 pounds.
Working Conditions: The work is predominately outdoors and will expose the incumbent to all kinds of weather, on all kinds of terrain and works under hazardous/dangerous conditions with proper training requirements in place. Operator must adhere to proper dress standards.
