Duties

This position serves as a Supervisory Legal Administrative Specialist responsible for providing management, technical, and analytical work to the Litigation Support staff in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Oklahoma. Typical work assignments include: Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets goals and priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Interviews and recommends candidates for positions in the unit and makes tentative selections subject to approval by the United States Attorney. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day records management program. Performs various litigation support tasks to process complex and voluminous electronically stored information. Evaluate current office systems on the legal support side of the office and propose new or alternative procedures to improve the effectiveness of work methods. Provides district-wide database administration, including analysis and summaries for case and time management applications as needed by attorney supervisors, division chiefs, and top management for reporting purposes and developing special reports as required.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

For the GS-12 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience organizing and directing the activities of legal support staff; providing legal, technical, and clerical support to attorneys; providing technical advice to legal support staff; assisting attorneys and managing legal support staff in organizing voluminous case information; overseeing the day-to-day operations of a records management program; and performing a variety of complex administration support relating to the management and administration support of the division. Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
