To provide whole health and mental health services to the veteran population enrolled at the Lexington VA Medical Center.

Plan and direct the educational and clinical experience of any potential medical students, residents, and fellows assigned to the Whole Health System.
Assist in implementation of the Whole Health System's performance improvement plan.
Advocate for the Whole Health System with VHA leadership and the medical community.
Providing clinical input and oversight for patient treatment plans.
Keeping the Whole Health System team apprised of medical care advances and practice standards.
Assisting in creating strategic partnerships with community organizations in order to promote health and well-being offerings within the community.
Maintains inventory of CIH approaches offered at VHA facility, including gap analysis as it relates to CIH approaches that must be offered by VA/community.
Ensures Veteran access to Whole Health services in alignment with the Whole Health Clinical Care Domain of the Designation Framework, the Whole Health Clinical Domain of the WHS Implementation Guide.
Ensuring clinical staff are aware of VA medical facility processes (e.g., consults) to access available Whole Health services.
Participating in relevant clinical councils and governance bodies.
Ensures newly hired employees are trained and oriented to both Veteran and Employee Whole Health program and key activities as part of new employee orientation (NEO).
Assists in executing a change management strategy in collaboration with VA medical facility Whole Health leadership to support the clinical staff with the integration of Whole Health into clinical practice.
Ensuring all patient safety events that occur in Whole Health programming are submitted into VA's Joint Patient Safety Reporting System (JPSR).
Has the clinical expertise and skills to provide a full range of clinical services, including services such as mindfulness, meditation, stress management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, health behavior interventions,
biofeedback, and integrative health education.
Assembles a diverse planning team of interdisciplinary health professionals and representatives from various services within the medical center.
Represents Employee Whole Health on the Whole Health Committee to ensure collaboration on wellness initiatives that may be beneficial to both Veteran patients and employees when feasible.
Conducts needs assessment(s) of employees to determine program needs and interests. Develops core program components based on assessment results.
Solicits feedback from employees on needs and plans future events accordingly.
Develops and delivers classes, seminars, workshops, etc. on various Employee Whole Health topics including but not limited to nutrition, physical activity, and mental health topics or works to identify and collaborates with relevant subject matter experts. Responsible for scheduling, approving instructors, selecting classes and activities, and organizing event to include VA clinics and off tours. Integrates concepts, practices and tools that support the WH system of care. Utilizes materials and resources available on the WH library.
Implements use of available individual health assessments to determine employee wellness strengths and opportunities (i.e., Personal Health Inventory (PHI), Healthy Living Assessment (HLA)), and tracks employee improvement and goal attainment as appropriate.
Under the direction of the WH Coordinator, conducts program evaluations and track outcomes to assess and improve program effectiveness.
Creates a personalized health plan (PHP) with employees who desire one by exploring the employee's mission, aspiration and purpose (MAP); creates goals and action plans with the employee based on his/her MAP. Maintains strict confidentiality of individual employee information according to published guidelines and procedures (i.e., maintains data from web-based questionnaires on secure servers behind the VA firewall, keeps paper records stored in locked filing cabinets, etc.).
Solicits feedback from employees on needs and expectations for the Employee Whole Health Program primarily through web-based questionnaires. Adjusts program offerings based on employee utilization, satisfaction and effectiveness.
Serves as Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for contracts related to the
Employee Whole Health program.
Provides biofeedback to Veterans
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g this part).
English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).
Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work.
Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found by going toSW Licensure Summary by State.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinations: The candidate must have at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Senior social workers have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Senior social workers are experts in their specialized area of practice. Senior social workers may have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty.
(a) Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. This includes individual, group, and/or family counseling or psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management.
(b) Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
(c) Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in the specialty area, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services and to design system changes.
(d) Ability to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in the service delivery area, as well as role modeling effective social work practice skills.
(e) Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the social work profession, and to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines pertaining to the service delivery area.
