Duties

You will operate and provide preventative maintenance to all pumps, compressors, valves, controls and miscellaneous equipment used in sewage collection. You will operate and maintain Bar screen, Clarifiers, compressors, chemical injection apparatus, aeration, filtration, chloritization facilities, ponds, and wetlands. You will perform a variety of analytical evaluations of the treatment process by sampling, testing, analyzing results and initiating scientifically correct and approved actions or procedures. You will provide continues review, analysis and recommendations enhancing wastewater treatment, performance and operations of the current secondary treatment system at Main side Wastewater Treatment Facility.

Requirements

  • WG-05 - You must be willing to obtain and maintain California Operator in Training Certification within 3 months of the date of hire.
  • WG-07: You must possess California Water Distribution Operator Certification Grade 1 on the date of hire.
  • WG-07: You must possess California Water Treatment Operator Certification Grade 1 on the date of hire.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Occasionally moves loads up to 250 pounds, with assistance, and individually lifting loads of 75 to 100 pounds.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces, above and below ground level, and in damp/wet conditions while in contact with dynamic equipment, loud noise and unpleasant odors.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

WG-07: The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform some tasks including inspecting sewage lift stations, checking operations and controls, troubleshooting and clearing alarms and malfunctions, and making adjustments and repairs to control systems to minimize disruptions. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. WG-05: The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including operating and performing preventative maintenance on pumps, compressors, valves, controls, and miscellaneous equipment used in sewage collection operations, water distribution systems, and potable water components.
