This position is a Supervisory Park Ranger, GS-0025-11, working in Tok, Alaska, for the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge. This is a Temporary Promotion, Not-To-Exceed 1 year.

Duties

As a Supervisory Park Ranger, your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Administer and manage recreational special use permits including process permit requests, issue permits, collect client use day reports and fees, and summarize public use data. Work with Alaska Natives or other Native American individuals or organizations to provide outreach on fish and wildlife, resource management, or conservation topics. Coordinate with other federal, state, and local agencies and other interested parties to integrate events such as hunting and fishing seasons. Recruit, interview, and select employees in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications

Only experience and education obtained by 04/08/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position, you must possess theMinimum Qualification: Possess at least one (1) year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience would include: 1) planning, administering, and managing visitor services activities; 2) creating and implementing new recreational and/or educational opportunities, programs and services for visitors; 3) ensuring visitor facilities and programs meet all regulatory requirements (safety, accessibility, historical preservation, etc.) and programmatic goals and objectives; 4) managing a Natural Resource or Public Land's program budget and ensuring proper use of funds; 5) developing and maintaining cooperative relationships with the public, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies to promote the programs/services of a park/refuge and/or to partner on collaborative projects, OR Possess 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the occupation. Major study: natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Education

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
