You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER in the Public Works Division of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will detect and diagnose system malfunctions, disassemble equipment, repair, or replace parts on ordnance equipment.
You will coordinate maintenance work assignments among staff to maintain work progress and meet schedules.
You will cooperate with coworkers of other trades to accomplish tasks involving joint efforts.
You will advise others on the use of tools and safety equipment when performing electronic work.
You will explain procedures, policies, written instructions, or other directives to others performing maintenance work.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- May require possession of a valid Environmental Protection Agency Universal Certification for working with all types of refrigerants at high and low pressures
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including rotating shifts, overtime, nights, weekends, holidays and/or be "called back" to meet mission requirements.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Lead of Supervise 1) Leading and directing Electricians, Air-Conditioning Mechanics, Heating/Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanics, Industrial Equipment Mechanics, Electronics Mechanics, Sheet Metal Mechanics, or Welders in proper work methods;2) Instructing others in planning, laying out, and completing installation, modification, and repair of systems;3) Ensuring work properly interprets building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering documents, drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to plan work and make calculations;4) Motivating and leading other workers in accomplishing work of the unit; and5) Briefing supervisor on accomplishment of work objectives and work status.
