This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Performs a variety of routine maintenance and upkeep duties in and around the park to which assigned. Assignments are designed to maintain and enhance the park's resources and to provide a quality natural environmental experience for the visiting public.
Duties
Perform a variety of routine maintenance duties in and around the park. Examples of the duties that you may be performing are:
Mow lawns using walking type power lawn mowers.
Clear overgrown areas using weed-whackers.
Clear or Prune trees using chain saws.
Maintain and repair boat launching ramps.
Use common hand tools and heavy power tools to complete repairs or assist with repairs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to have or obtain and maintain a valid, state-issued motor vehicle license for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to occasionally work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.).
- This position requires the incumbent to work weekends and holidays frequently.
- This position may require the incumbent to wear an agency prescribed uniform.
- The duties of the position require a preemployment and annual physical.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) 429233 ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common general lawn and yard care duties along with using various heavy power tools. I can use a jackhammer, chainsaw, and power mowers. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Lifts, carries, loads, unloads and moves materials, supplies and equipment frequently weighing over 50 lb., running power mowers on grades or pushing heavy wheelbarrow loads of cement. Is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Occasionally works from ladders scaffolds or platforms.
Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather (hot, cold, wind, etc.). Employee is exposed to a variety of pests and insects with the possibility of bites. Employee is subject to strain from lifting, broken bones, cuts, bruises, scrapes and falls from ladders. Occasionally is required to wear uncomfortable protective clothing.
