Duties

You will serve as an ANTENNA MECHANIC WORKER in the ANTENNA DIVISION, TELECOMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT at NCTAMSLANT DETACHMENT CUTLER, ME. You will repair and maintain an antenna network consisting of steel towers, counterweight towers, tophat antenna panels, helix houses, cross arm clusters, antenna grounding systems, transmission line/tunnels, and hoist houses. You will inspect and repair guy anchor grounds, check the guy tension and tower profiles, and adjust tower guy tensions and profiles as needed. You will change oil in gear boxes, grease hoist spindles, inspect hoist drums and change gear lubricant, make continuous visual inspections, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as: *Using hand tools, small power tools, power assist equipment, and motor vehicle equipment. *Repairing antenna panels, re-tensioning guy wires, and grounding system components. *Performing work assignments and making sound decisions after climbing VLF towers. *Operating fork lifts, and driving tractors and vegetation control equipment.
