This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Great Plains Region, Great Plains Regional Office, Deputy Regional Director - Indian Services, Division of Human Services, in Multiple Locations.

Duties

Responsible for the administration, development, execution, and evaluation of the entire Human Services Branch. Maintain the administration and provide case management of supervised Individual Indian Money (IIM) accounts for minors and adults. Provides professional level direction for family centered casework to assist in adjustments of family members toward one another, and in their relationship outside the home. Prepares annual program budgets, revising them as appropriate in order to conform to program activities, needs, and budgetary constraints. Maintains case records reflecting decisions on applications and narration of services provided. Responsible for coordination and consultation with agencies at tribal, local, county, state, and national level for purpose of developing and provision of social services to the Agency. Provide program management and technical advisement regarding diverse Bureau human services programs pertaining to Indian Child Welfare, Child and Family Services and Child Protection matters.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions and Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0185: Social Work Series). BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the MASTER'S DEGREE in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: In addition to meeting the basic entry level qualification requirements, applicants must have the following: GS-13: 1 year of specialized experience* equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that includes work involving applying practical knowledge of a wide range of social casework, family therapy, systems theory and community organization; direct provision of child welfare services, maintaining active agency participation in the varied advocacy and intervention programs and the coordination of and required cooperation with allied social service, health and other agencies; providing counseling services; developing and maintaining a formalized case management system which documents the workflow of case services with individual case plans; development and maintaining of IIM accounts; provides technical assistance on all aspects of social services programs and activities; and develops and supports program budget matters. These examples are not all inclusive (refer to the summary of duties for specialized experience). *SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the position to be filled. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
