The incumbent provides investigative analysis and support, including technical support on financial and information technology programs and operations to the Special Agent-in-Charge, Assistant Special Agent-in- Charge and Criminal Investigators in criminal, civil and administrative cases. The incumbent performs work involving the research, analysis, and/or evaluation of information to assist criminal investigators in ongoing investigations.

As an Investigative Analyst, you will work in the Office of Criminal Investigations and will be responsible but not limited to the following major duties:

Qualifications

GS-07: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience includes: Knowledge and experience assisting in gathering, researching, and analyzing various types of data from a variety of sources, including; federal, state, local, and public agencies to develop reports on investigative information; assisting in the preparation and execution of search warrants; performing basic administrative support and assistance to Criminal Investigators; assisting in using a variety of databases, software’s and systems to gather, maintain and organize information regarding investigations; and using databases and systems to prepare/communicate findings and information appropriate sources. OR Education: 1 full year of graduate level education in a related field such as criminal justice, public policy, law, political science, business administration, finance, or public administration. OR Superior Academic Achievement: You possess degree that is qualifying for this position that meets the criteria for eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision through one of the following methods. No more than 10% of academic credit can be based on pass/fail or similar non-traditional grading systems. (You must possess a conferred BACHELOR's degree to claim S.A.A) * 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on the official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum * 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. (Grade-point averages will be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9) * Upper 1/3 ranking in graduating class (you must submit proof with your application) * National Scholastic Honor Society. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. (You must submit proof with your application) OR Combination of Education and Experience: Applicants that possess a percentage of the required specialized experience and a percentage of the required graduate level education such that, when the percentages of the required graduate education and specialized experience are added together, they equal 100%. GS-09: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience includes: Knowledge and experience gathering, researching, and analyzing various types of data from a variety of sources, including; federal, state, local, and public agencies to develop reports on investigative information; assisting in the preparation and execution of search warrants; providing administrative support and assistance to Criminal Investigators; utilizing a variety of databases, software’s and systems to gather, maintain and organize information regarding investigations; and using databases and systems to prepare/communicate findings and information both orally and written to various sources involved in investigative cases. OR Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field such as criminal justice, public policy, law, political science, business administration, finance, or public administration OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Applicants that possess a percentage of the required specialized experience and a percentage of the required graduate level education such that, when the percentages of the required graduate education and specialized experience are added together, they equal 100%. (Only graduate education and only professional experience equivalent to the GS-5 or higher is creditable.) GS-11: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience researching various informational databases to collect relevant data and other facts and performing complex computations and analyses concerning data collected; experience investigating criminal violations and relevant legal and policy constraints; experience researching pertinent regulations and policy governing criminal investigation operations to relate investigative subject matter to intelligence needs; experience following disclosure requirements to ensure proper use of confidential information; experience using analytical, evaluative and research techniques to identify and evaluate large amounts of data obtained from various sources and preparing and disseminating finished reports; experience utilizing oral and written communication techniques to clearly and effectively communicate with individuals of all levels; experience in using graphs, charts, spreadsheets, and computer print outs to interpret data; and experience providing significant research, data, analysis and/or report(s) that caused an initiation of a criminal investigation case(s) and/or contributed to the development/completion of a criminal investigation case(s). OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Three (3) full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate in a related field of study from an accredited college or university that demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR PH. D or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university that demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR LL.M., if related. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. A combination of qualifying graduate education and experience equivalent to that described above. GS-12: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience researching various informational databases to collect relevant data and other facts and performing complex computations and analyses concerning data collected; experience investigating criminal violations and relevant legal and policy constraints; experience researching pertinent regulations and policy governing criminal investigation operations to relate investigative subject matter to intelligence needs; experience following disclosure requirements to ensure proper use of confidential information; experience using analytical, evaluative and research techniques to identify and evaluate large amounts of data obtained from various sources and preparing and disseminating finished reports; experience utilizing oral and written communication techniques to clearly and effectively communicate with individuals of all ranks; experience in using graphs, charts, spreadsheets, and computer print outs to interpret data; experience providing significant research, data, analysis and/or report(s) that caused an initiation of a criminal investigation case(s) and/or contributed to the development/completion of a criminal investigation case(s); experience performing work with minimal supervision; and training lower grade analysts and other support personnel in determining appropriate records research, manipulation of collected data, and in preparing final reports in order to promote consistency and proficiency in the support being rendered.

Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Undergraduate or Graduate Education must be related to the position.
