You will service as Security Assistant in the Security Office, Command Operations Department, and Security Division at the Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW), San Diego, CA.

Duties

You will respond to requests for general information from internal and external contacts. You will process incoming and outgoing security briefings and verify security clearance status. You will coordinate outgoing visit requests involving security clearance certification and requests for access to classified information. You will issue Common Access Cards (CACs) using the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)/Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS). You will coordinate all office FRC SW Visit Request for VIP, military, DoD, civilian, contractor, government officials with FRC SW Points of Contact within the Command. You will process new employees and review data records in the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) to determine if the required Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) has been conducted. You will accomplish other duties as assigned.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must obtain and maintain required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

For the GS-05 position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower GS-04 Grade Level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience: (1) Applying working knowledge of personnel security programs, principals, policies, and procedures to assist in processing security administration documents; (2) Working with security databases (e.g., Defense Information System for Security (DISS), Automated Entry Control System (AECS), Livescan (Electronic Fingerprints), Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), and Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS)) to input, interpret, and/or prepare and review security administration documentation; (3) Coordinating with internal and/or external contacts regarding security requirements for an organization; (4) Assisting in receiving and processing visit requests for an organization and ensuring security requirements are met and the proper paperwork is completed; and (5) Utilizing customer service skills to assist in resolving issues and answer general informational inquiries. For the GS-06 position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower GS-05 Grade Level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience: (1) Applying working knowledge of personnel security programs, principals, policies, and procedures to process security administration documents; (2) Working with security databases (e.g., Defense Information System for Security (DISS), Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS), Automated Entry Control System (AECS), Key Pro (Access Control), Livescan (Electronic Fingerprints, Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), and Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS)) to input, interpret, prepare, and review security administration documentation; (3) Coordinating with internal and external contacts regarding security requirements for an organization; (4) Receiving and processing visit requests for an organization and ensuring security requirements are met and the proper paperwork is completed; and (5) Utilizing customer service skills to resolve issues and answer informational inquiries.
