As a/an Mortgage Housing Specialist, you will:
Evaluate the effectiveness of mortgagees' single family loan administration policies and practices against the general standards imposed by the accepted practices of prudent lending institutions and HUD Regulations and administrative instructions.
Evaluate the performance of and makes specific recommendations for improving the loss mitigation program as needed.
Review correspondence, analytical reports, and statistical data in the monitoring and evaluation of mortgagees, Housing agents, and HUD field offices.
Initiate and prepare changes in regulations and administrative instructions governing Housing procedures.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Forward or reverse / Home Equity Conversion - Mortgage (HECM) loan servicing which may include foreclosure processing property conveyance, and loss mitigation policies, procedures, and processes in a forward or reverse mortgage company, bank, or financial institution; AND
- Assisting with the modification of existing policies and practices regarding loss mitigation; AND
- Advising senior management on risk-related issues and practices regarding forward or reverse mortgages.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13 you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
