Duties

Conducts traffic enforcement and Law enforcement patrols within the assigned jurisdictional area. Observes or responds to reports of crime ranging from violations of simple rules to felonies, and capital crimes. Provides general supervision and technical guidance/direction to civilian police personnel. Executes administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the mission assigned. Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy; or successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date
  • Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid Tier 2 (Secret) security investigation.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • This is a Testing Designated Position and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment for extended periods of time as needed IAW 29 CFR 1910.140.
  • Incumbent must wear a uniform and comply with the Army Civilian Police Dress and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene in accordance with AR 190-56.
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.

To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes: enforcing laws, procedures, orders, directives, regulations and ordinances when conducting law enforcement missions; investigating crime/accident scenes by searching for clues, interviewing witnesses and making arrests; provide protection of personnel and government resources; performing leadership duties by distributing workload; and providing law enforcement guidance and direction to subordinates. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some Federal positions allow you to substitute education for experience. For this position, you must qualify using experience only, no education substitution if allowed.
