Duties

As a SOCIAL WORKER, GS-0185-12, you will actively support the commander's leadership team in addressing the psychological health of their installation. Conduct assessments, routine and crisis evaluations, psycho-diagnostic assessments, provide short-term, evidence-based problem resolution strategies and services. Design, develop, coordinate, and implement prevention and community outreach and education programs. Responsible for marketing and marketing evaluation activities. Provide professional consultation, advice, education, and training to other military and non-military health care professionals, medical personnel, military commanders/senior leaders, wing personnel and their family members, and community agencies concerning primary and secondary prevention programs. Prepare agenda for meetings, compiles statistical data, and prepares a variety of recurring reports. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Title 5 Excepted Service position in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Non-Bargaining Position AOC A: NG Employees working at the location specified. AOC B: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard. AOC C: Open to the public. License Requirement: Applicant must have a current, unrestricted State license to practice clinical social work independently. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources is mandatory. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must indicate at least 36 months of experience in clinical social work assignments. Completion of the Air Force Social Work Internship Program may be substituted for 12 months of the specialized experience requirement. This experience demonstrates particular competencies of knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Must have specialized experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work-out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate. Except as stated above, no other substitution of education for specialized experience is allowed. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled. Education

You must meet the following Education requirement to qualify for this position: Master's degree in social work from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and acceptable to The Surgeon General.
