Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, Special Services Division will allow you to become an essential part of the Secret Service protective mission by evaluating, modifying, and performing general maintenance to the state-of-the-art fleet of protective armored vehicles. Duties

The selectee will serve as a Mobile Equipment Servicer in the Special Services Division. Typical work assignments include: Maintaining the appearance of a wide variety of heavy automotive and mobile equipment such as armored limousines, trucks, utility vehicles, as well as unarmored official passenger automobiles. Performing proper appearance maintenance on a variety of vehicles by using various equipment, tools and solutions (i.e.power washers, machine buffers, vacuums, and steam machines). Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical publications to conduct heavy automotive and mobile equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Mobile Equipment Servicer without more than normal supervision. Mobile Equipment Servicer tasks include operating a wide variety of heavy automotive and mobile equipment such as armored limousines, trucks, utility vehicles. Maintaining the appearance of a heavy automotive and mobile equipment by washing and detailing the interior and exterior. Performing routine maintenance to prevent mechanical failure, such as maintaining correct fluid levels, checking on wear and tear on equipment parts, maintaining air and water temperatures, replacing filters and changing of oil and grease. Repairing tires, lubricating vehicles according to specifications, and replacing automotive accessories as needed. Interpreting, understanding and applying instructions, measurements, and specifications. -Note: Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Selective Placement Factor(s): Selective placement factors are applied in the same manner as minimum qualification requirements. In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following selective placement factor(s): Must possess and maintain a current and valid U.S. driver's license. Work is performed on various equipment with heights up to 6 meters (18 feet) above ground). Occasional heavy lifting is required weighing up to 50 pounds. The work of the position requires frequent bending, reaching, and working in awkward positions when performing work in lube pits or from car racks. Potential exposure to minor cuts, bruises and burns. Work is performed either inside or outside in various weather conditions and in areas that are dirty, oily, or greasy.
