This position is located within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC), Office of the Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of Health Systems Support (HSS), and IHSC Health Operations Unit. This is a non-supervisory position. This position is only open to current USPHS officers. USPHS Call to Active Duty (CAD) candidates are not eligible for this position.

Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • You must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • You must successfully pass a drug screen.
  • Males born after 12/31/59 must certify registration with Selective Service.
  • Requirements by Closing Date: Unless otherwise noted, you must meet all requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • Applicants must be a current USPHS Commissioned Corps Officer. USPHS Call to Active Duty (CAD) candidates are not eligible for this position. Civilians are not eligible for this position.

Qualifications

Demonstrates strong analytical skills Integrity and honesty. Cultural competency. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Able to carry 50 lbs. of medical equipment 100 yards. Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time (6-8 Hours). Performing repeated bending motion. Average manual dexterity for computer operation. Phone use for extended periods of time.

Education

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a health care related field, health care administration, financing, business or computer science. Master's degree preferred, not required.
  2. If the incumbent holds a clinical license, it is the responsibility of the incumbent to fulfill the obligation(s) of their licensing or certifying body to maintain current status. This position will be required to perform clinical activities within the scope of clinical license in times of critical needs within the agency.
  3. Maintains clinical professional skills via continuing education opportunities and aid in Temporary Duty support as needed.
  4. Maintains basic readiness status.
  5. Maintains Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
  6. Ability to exercise a high degree of independence, initiative, judgment, and follow-through on a broad range of sensitive, complex administrative tasks.
  7. Flexibility and adaptability to sudden changes in schedules and work requirements.
  8. Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office programs.
  9. Knowledge of ICE and IHSC, program policies and guidelines, operating procedures, and various departmental initiatives preferred, not required.
