You will serve as a ACADEMIC WRITING INSTRUCTOR in the OFFICE OF THE SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, OFFICE OF UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC OPERATIONS, JAMES A. ZIMBLE LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER'S (LRC) ACADEMIC WRITING CENTER (AWC) of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.
Duties
You will develop and deliver graduate-level biomedical writing instruction in a military university setting, managing all writing instruction within the Learning Resource Center.
You will schedule and prepare instructional materials and track use of instructional services.
You will ensure that instructional content is developed for biomedical and academic writing that support educational outcomes identified by university faculty and leadership and to address topics identified by patrons.
You will be responsible for researching each topic to ensure instruction is accurate, thorough, reflects current best practices and integrates with relevant
university practices or policies.
You will provide online, in-person and classroom-based writing instruction for faculty, staff and students on best practices, principles, and developing topics in writing.
You will work with Learning Resource Center's (LRC) librarians to coordinate support of students and researchers throughout the lifecycle of academic and scientific written communications.
You will design web-based asynchronous learning modules on writing topics of relevance to Uniformed Services University (USU) patrons.
You will conduct continuous program monitoring including feedback collection, conduct interviews, and gather assessments from academic stakeholders.
You will identify electronic and print resources required to support academic writers, evaluate online products, and make purchasing recommendations to the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Director.
You will assess programs and services offered by the AWC and other writing centers for the purpose of benchmarking, identifying and addressing areas requiring improvement, and reporting on AWC performance semi-annually.
You will deliver one-on-one consultations and virtual or in-person small group workshops.
You will provide patron support which may include providing guidance on organizing, creating, editing and formatting manuscripts, figures, tables, and diagrams, and helping USU community members identify publishing opportunities.
You will provide patron support by matching their manuscripts to appropriate journals, preparing manuscripts for publication or presentation.
You will assist students seeking advanced degrees to prepare dissertations, theses, or DNP projects on a broad scope of biomedical topics; and developing workshops or seminars on a wide variety of topics related to writing.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional instructor developing and delivering training related programs courses for adult learning for academic writing for faculty, staff, and students in a university environment.

Successful competition of a bachelor's degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.
