Duties
Assists journeyman mechanics in the repair of the mechanical/hydraulic portion of the overall storage modernization system.
Assists in the diagnosis, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and subsystems.
Assists in general and scheduled preventive maintenance of equipment; cleans, lubricates and tightens stock retrieval systems, overhead and conveyor systems, and shrink tunnel.
Uses a variety of test equipment, technical manuals, and mechanic's hand tools to accomplish assigned tasks.

- This position and any future selections from this announcement may be used to fill various shifts located within DLA Distribution Susquehanna in New Cumberland.
- Operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) is a condition of employment. You must pass the required training to operate MHE. Failure to pass training will result in termination of employment.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Material Handling Equipment (MHE)license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license/certification to operate government vehicles.
- Must maintain body weight not in excess of 300 pounds due to aisle mobile hybrid operation.
Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.

PHYSICAL EFFORT - Work requires standing, stooping, and kneeling. Employee is required to be able to reach, climb, work at various heights, and exert physical effort carrying varying weights (not to exceed 75 lbs. with assistance) for short distances.
WORKING CONDITIONS - Assigned duties are normally performed in well lit, adequately heated/ ventilated buildings. Employees on occasion may be required to work in unheated areas or outdoors. Duties include exposure to moving machinery, electrical hazards, cleaning and preservative chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, and noise.
