Duties

As a Community Relations Officer, GS-13 you will perform the following duties: Developing and maintaining key relationships and promoting agency policies, initiatives, operations and programs with ICE stakeholders and throughout the community; Developing, supporting and maintaining partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies to identify specific community needs and appropriate delivery and channels for service; Working as part of a team to coordinate ICE's ongoing participation and attendance at local, regional, and national meetings/conferences; AND Analyzing and disseminating reports and statistics within the area of responsibility and other existing communication channels.

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Organizing and facilitating stakeholder meetings, presentations, partnership, and engagements with executive stakeholders, local government, nongovernmental organizations, Faith-based groups, law enforcement partners, tribal, victims of crime, consulates, and/or private sector partners; Advising and communicating with a variety of community stakeholders and partners on immigration enforcement and agency priorities and investigative matters; Utilizing various communication channels including social media and in-person meetings to disseminate reports, statistics, and cleared information, to HQ and local leadership through established reporting mechanisms such as written debriefs, issue papers, SharePoint, and databases; AND Drafting talking points, memos, and issue papers, and presenting material to the public regarding immigration and agency related policy, processes, procedures, priorities, etc. Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
