About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Strategic Systems Support (SSSE) HQ's Element, Alexandria, Virginia.

Duties

Serves as an all-source Targeting Officer in the Directorate of Intelligence (G2). Utilizes state-of-the-art intelligence research tools, automated information systems and equipment to conduct analysis and targeting. Prepares and coordinates tailored, timely and accurate written all-source intelligence assessments and targeting products. May serve as team leader or lead analyst of a team or working group providing intelligence support for contingency operations or exercises. Establishes, conducts and maintains daily coordination and liaison with counterpart specialists within other agencies and organizations. May represent the command in foreign intelligence exchanges or international forums, furnishing information, defending Agency positions, and coordinating studies and conclusions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance based on a SBI.
  • Must pass the organization's Personnel Reliability Program which includes credit check, drug screening, polygraph and psychological evaluation.
  • Individual must sign a statement attesting to the understanding of DCIPS provisions as indicated in AR 690-13.
  • Travel may be required up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in organization operations and training CONUS and OCONUS. *For more information, please see "Qualifications" below.
  • Periodically, chiefly during periods of crisis, may be required to work overtime or irregular hours.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Staff Like Access (SLA) in order to perform temporary duty with other government agencies.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes: Experience performing all-source intelligence analysis and production in support of operations. Experience in planning, developing, and presenting formal and informal briefings to senior level officials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-12). Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data. Note: *Must be willing and able to participate in organization operations and training CONUS and OCONUS. May be required to deploy into austere locations or areas in which hostile action may occur. Specific training and immunization requirements may apply, as appropriate for OCONUS travel.
