This position is part of the Selective Service System. The organizational title of this position is Deputy State Director, an intermittent (96 hours per year) position that is responsible for liaising and building relations with state and local officials and community representatives while ensuring rigorous program management that prepares for reconstitution of the Agency's state operations in the event of activation.

Duties

Recruits potential members of local boards and manages the recommendation by the Governor of those eligible to serve as Board Members. Assists in identifying and recruiting applicants for membership on Appeal Boards. Establishes and maintains continuing liaison activities between the organization and the State government, Congressional representatives, and local and community officials. Articulates goals and objectives and gains support necessary for furthering organizational programs.

Qualifications

At the GS-14 level, you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include advising on the planning of programs and overseeing implementation; participating in the planning of emergency operations and contingency exercises to measure and evaluate the readiness of the system for full or partial mobilization; implementing outreach programs, and assisting in training employees and members; representing an organization's senior staff at various meetings (ex. explaining and interpreting organization policy and programs at all levels of the state). Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education cannot be substituted for specialized experience at this series/grade level.
