About the Position: This position is located in Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville. The cost of living is lower than the average for all major U.S. cities. Duties

Independently perform direct health care to include clinical duties such as assessing, planning, evaluating, and modifying the plan of acute and chronically ill patients. Collaborate with attending physician and other medical staff in interpreting and evaluating continuing changes in direct patient care. Provide consultation, teaching, and coordination with patients and their family members regarding treatment and medical care. Evaluate normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional or mental problems. Secure comprehensive health and medical history from the patient or family member, records findings and make clinical evaluation.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
• Fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Successful completion of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• The position may require wearing and using personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
• This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position may require the incumbent to complete mandatory tuberculosis testing.
• This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• This position requires that you obtain and maintain an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
• Irregular tours of duty may be required to include weekends, nights, and/or holidays, depending on area of assignment.
• Moderate to heavy lifting may be required.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Exemption: You are exempt from the license requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0603 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience: A minimum of one full year of work experience as a certified physician assistant which includes performing patient care procedures in a hospital or medical office setting; determining appropriate medical treatment for diagnoses; performing health examinations for assigned patients; prescribing medications; and obtaining patient medical history for accurate records. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
