This position is located in the Industrial Equipment Branch, Plant Engineering Division, United States Mint at Denver. The position is responsible for condition and time-directed preventative maintenance on die production equipment, conventional and high-speed coin manufacturing machines and support equipment. This position performs minor repairs and assists in major repairs to this equipment.
Duties
As a PRODUCTION MACHINERY REPAIRER, you will:
Determine the correct oil required for lubricating and or cooling machine tools. Fill oil reservoirs of machine tools to required level according to oil gauge. Oil shafts, gears, sprockets, bearings, and other moving parts of machine and sheet metal forming tools, industrial equipment such as, blowers, pumps, conveyors, and other similar machines.
Change filters and strainers for the cooling towers and AC units, cleaning the condensers, draining, and cleaning the water tanks, servicing system with glycol, replaces coolant in the exothermic generators, and cleaning heat exchangers on the blanking and furnace presses.
Inspect for functionality, lubricates, and performs minor repairs the electric bridge cranes, electric or pneumatic hoists and exhaust fans throughout the building. Change hydraulic fluid, checks air pressure, and checks serviceability of the cables. Maintain and service the lift doors and the dock levelers on the South Dock area by inspecting and repairing the gear boxes, pulley systems, cables, belts, chains, brakes, and sensors.
Assist journeyman production machinery mechanics on assignments involving machinery of greater complexity by disassembling and assembling the simpler components and assemblies, locating, and repairing or replacing defective parts and components.
Inspect and change the halide lamps, incandescent lamps, and fluorescent lamps throughout the building. This includes troubleshooting the circuit to determine if the starter is malfunctioning, or if the lamp is defective, or if the ballast transformer needs to be replaced.
