You will serve as a Hazardous Waste Disposer in the Compliance and Quality Department of FLTREADCEN EAST.

Duties

You will perform the hazardous property storage area inspection daily to ensure that property is accurately accounted for, identified, stored, and that necessary measures (e.g., overpacking) is performed for deteriorated containers. You will combine hazardous waste from tanks, degreasers and collection hoppers based on compatibility and other considerations. You will handle hundreds of various types of Waste and Material that are characterized as solid, liquid, gas, flammable, corrosives, reactive and toxic. You will operate equipment such as cold vaporization units and distillation equipment to remove gases and liquids to separate waste. You will assist environmental personnel in reviewing property to ascertain the presence of hazardous property and actively pursues the resolution of discrepancies.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Performing inspections within the hazardous waste storage areas to ensure wastes are accurately accounted for, identified and stored; collecting and combining hazardous waste water from tanks, degreasers, and collection hoppers based on compatibility; performing tests, sampling, stabilization and neutralization as required for various types of hazardous materials and wastes; receiving, warehousing, inventorying and shipping hazardous wastes and/or materials to ensure environmental and safety compliance standards are met; operating equipment such as forklifts, tow tractors, and/or motor vehicles to load, transport, and store hazardous wastes; operating pump trucks, portable pumps, and/or hydraulic devices. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
