In this position, you will lead a team of custodial workers and motor vehicle operators in the performance of custodial tasks and minor building maintenance and repairs at Valley Forge National Historical Park. Please note: This is a veteran preference-eligible restricted position. Non-preference eligibles will not be considered if a sufficient number of preference eligibles are available.

Duties

Provide working leadership and oversite of the day to day operations and serve as the lead on weekends, holidays and other times when supervisor is absent or otherwise disposed Support a variety of assignments related to maintaining and coordinating custodial operations, which contributes to the overall operation of and visitor enjoyment of the park Conduct spot checks of work operations for correct procedures and to ensure quality standards, safety practices and deadlines are met Perform janitorial and custodial duties such as sweeping, or scrubbing floors; washing windows; cleaning restrooms and collecting trash

Requirements

• You must be a U.S. citizen or national.
• All requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• You are required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
• Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
• This is an emergency/essential position. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
• You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
• Work takes place indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, kneel, bend and lift 50 lbs.
• A valid state driver's license is required.

Qualifications

In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess the ability to lead or supervise a group of workers in carrying out custodial work. I provide guidance to others on how to complete their work tasks safely and in accordance with written procedures and identify the tools and materials needed to carry out a project. I perform custodial work, such as cleaning and disinfecting public facilities, using industrial-type power scrubbers or buffers to clean or polish floors, and clearing snow and ice from walkways, roads, and steps.
