Duties
This position will allow you to use your expertise in audio visual production to become a vital and essential part of Customs and Border Protection's mission. Apply for this exciting opportunity to serve as a producer, director, editor, gaffer, scriptwriter and production assistant in support of agency informational programming.
This position starts at a salary of $95,895.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $124,659.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $124,659.00 (GS-12 Step 10).
As an Audiovisual Production Specialist, you are required to serve as a producer, director, script writer and production assistant in support of agency informational and message media production projects. You are responsible for oversight of the following program objectives:
Producing quality multi-media production projects in support of agency informational and messaging media production projects.
Managing all facets of multi-media production projects, including directing, audio, video, script preparation, editing, photography, graphic design, and post-production.
Field collection of video footage and photography.
Assembling and repairing cables, installing and maintaining equipment, ordering and maintaining spare parts for all studio equipment.
Familiarizing and becoming efficient with engraving and printing equipment and processes as well as other multi-media assignments, as needed.
Qualifications
Basic Requirement:
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
OR
Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Using photo and video editing software for the development of digital media content.
Coordinating and producing field productions (i.e. videography).
Configuring and operating broadcast television equipment/systems and assisting in the recording and transmission of live and pre-recorded video productions.
Using non-linear, digital editing systems.

Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment.
